I thought 6% increment on average with a promotion after 2 years. If you can earn 7k in 5 years, I think this is on par with US banks as well.

Let me break it down for you. 2-year graduate program > promoted to next pay grade > 2-3 years later promoted again to next pay grade.
Starting at 4.4K and assuming a 6% increment for non-promotion years & 15%-25% increment when promoted, it’s very likely for someone in local bank BO/MO to earn close to 7k base after 5 YOE.

Pay at local banks
I think a lot of people have inflated views of a local bank VP’s pay. The inflated pay stated in this thread could be true but they are definitely not for all people. We are talking about the 3 local banks here and the truth is some that some people take years before they can even smell VP rank. In the bank where I am the youngest VP I have seen is in their mid to late 30s. The lowest VP rank will probably snag u close to $10k inclusive of allowance. VPs in their. Early 30s are rare. AVPs pay range is huge and depends in the number of years of experience. I’d say it ranges from $5k to $12k for those who are stuck in AVPs.

The so called VP at bank is only middle manager. Real VPs earn 600k to 2M at big companies. 1/3 of GS employee has VP title and that says a lot.

7 to 8 years to VP for top performer. If your friend is a girl it is possible. Junior VP earns around 140k including bonus. I am talking about BO/MO. FO pay is another level.

It is possible, I’m just saying that not everybody can get a VP when they reach 30. In all likelihood, may be only the top 5% will be able to achieve this. I also understand in UOB for example VPs are easier to attain as they they have a very flat rank structure and There are just a few ranks to a junior VP rank.

If you are talking about those who were previously in graduate programs, it’s around 20%-30%. If you exclude those who have left the bank since, around 35%-50% from the class/intake can make VP MO/BO in 7 years thereabouts.
