hey, what do you wear for a first-round f2f interview for banking?
is a shirt and pants (normal working attire) too casual? should i wear a tie or blazer?

Generally no. Ideally you go to big4 first gain some experience then apply.

let’s help each other
just here to help. to balance out the other toxic comments and fluff.
anyways, for those who ask what’s the range of salary for different ranks etc..
guys, what’s more important to HR is your current salary.. and how many percent increment are u asking for.. 20%-30%.. HR isn’t going to do charity for u and ask the boss approve a 40% increment cause of that rank u applied for, this isn’t logical business sense for big banks. what’s also important is, variable bonus that affects total comp.. varies widely across banks depending on function (japs 4-6 months, local banks 2-3 months)..
to the guy asking if 8.2k with OCBC sec is ok, 8 years experience. as above, u have to give more info or assess what are u drawing currently in total vs the proposed. local banks giving 15% increment for new joiners is quite good as their bonus is better than foreign banks.. also, consider how strong ur profile is in the market and whether any other opportunities to consider by speaking to recruiters. all the best! FYI 8.2k for 8 YOE is more than decent in my view. bigger question is 5 years time any progression?

i think this rly depends mate. could be that like u mentioned above but i know for a fact some HR also peg to certain competitors within the industry as benchmark instead of relying on hiring manager

yes. and recruiter's KPIs are typically tagged to how efficient they can bring in a candidate at (the more they lowball and u accept, the higher their performance).
as long as you stand your ground, let them know you're going to reject if they don't give what you expect, you should be getting what you want. they will just take sometime to crap some bs out about going back to business etc but will come back with whatever u request for.
