Good retirement plan in JB (retire in luxury) for a retired couple at 55 years old
(assuming no dependents)

Passive income at 55
Rent out fully paid HDB flat S$2.5k pm
Stocks dividends S$1k pm
Total S$3.5k pm or RM10.5k pm

JB cost of living
Rent a 3 bedroom condominium RM2k pm
Car expenses RM500 pm (assume buy car in cash RM50k)
Food, groceries, restaurants and utilities RM2k pm
Medical and entertainment RM1k pm
Misc RM500 pm
Total spending RM6k pm
Savings RM4.5k pm

Passive income at 65
Rent out fully paid HDB flat S$2.5k pm
Stocks dividends S$1k pm
CPF Life (Enhanced Retirement Scheme), couple gets S$3.5k pm
Total income S$7k pm or RM21k pm
Total spending RM8k pm
Savings RM13k pm

This retirement plan allows you to live in a nice condo and drive a nice car. You can go holidays all over the world every year if you want to since you will have lots of savings.
Your retirement assets are: 1. HDB flat 2. CPF Life 3. Dividend blue chip stocks.

This is a brilliant idea. This means we don't have to own millions to retire in luxury. The ordinary Singaporean can retire in luxury as long as they own a HDB flat and a few hundred thousands to invest in dividend stocks. Besides JB, we can also retire in KL, Penang, Malacca, Chiang Mai, etc.

If COE crash to $5k, can also upgrade to 7 series.

Question. If most people are scrapping their 2013 high COE cars, then what will happen when 2023 comes? Will there be no more replacement of COE since there are no more 2013 registered cars?

Sorry to disappoint you but COE will be stopped with the erection of new government.

Care to explain more?

I am waiting for COE to drop below $30k before I can afford my Altis dream car. Please don't tell me that government will implement some new rules, please!!

If coe prices would hit it's low, it would be between 2016 and 2017 when the bulk of deregistrations take place. There after it is only up n up.

Govn has made it clear that a car light country is what it wants so it would eventually start to reduce vehicle population or keep it stagnant. Even if it keeps vehicle growth stagnant, because the population will keep growing with generally more middle class and higher, there will be more people who can afford cats so coe prices would go up still.

My opinion is anything at the 30k plus coe value is too good to miss already
