It's going to get better from this year onwards with the salary limit (that attracts CPF contribution) raised to $6000 pm. Last year it was at $5000. Then for folks 55 yrs and above, additional 1% interest (6%) for their RA up to first $30,000,5% for the next $30K and 4% for the rest.
How old are you guys?
For me, old man liao, my CPF interest (total) came in at a decent $25.5K. Together with spouse's, our total interest from CPF is $48k. Can survive on that if live simply.

Are we allowed to top up our CPF SA to $1m? Much safer than investing in property or stock market.

Economy already going south , just see china stock market crashing down 8% today, people are getting nervous. Why buy car now when you can get it much cheaper by year end.
In every decade, there will be one big crash - it happened in 1986, 1997, 2008, i see the big crash is coming in 2017. Buy when coe price drop to 30k by end of this year or early next year. Take it from seasoned investor here.

I don't have any argument with you regarding the direction of the COE.
What I find ironical is a seasoned investor looking at COE as an investment (implied) LOL.
How can an extravagant donation to Singapore government's reserves be counted as an investment??
My aim as an investor is simply to pay the least tax/levy/contribution to the government. To this end I contribute the max to SRS, get the max tax deduction, don't smoke, don't drink, don't donate via COE, max out OA to SA transfers, did a decoupling with my wife to void ABSD (delicious savings that one...) buy goods online via taobao or Amazon thus avoiding GST. Only one I cannot avoid is maid levy but I figure that at $60 levy a month, I will be charitable and help to build up Singapore LOL
What do you think of me as an investor? lol

We were lucky to upgrade to a condo a few years ago. Now our condo is worth $950k and we no longer have any loans on it. We are not very high income earners, just $80k pa and $100k pa. We are now in our early 50s.
When we retire at 65, we will downgrade to a studio condo and use the net cash proceeds to buy annuities. Our CPF Life will also provide us a good monthly income.
We hope our annuities will give us $3k pm while our CPF Life will give us $3.5k pm. Our kids may give us $500 pm ($250 from each child). In total, we will have $7k pm as passive income. Our expenses will be $3k pm the most as we do not plan to own a car nor employ any helper. We can save $4k pm which we can use to go holidays to Europe once we save enough. I think a trip to Europe may cost $10k per person.
