Our annual expenses will not be high as we will cook our meals, do our own household chores, no car and we don’t like to shop for new stuff. We have lots of clothes which can last us for a long time. We enjoy a quiet and modest living.
This is a good plan. Your condo is a good asset to monetise. Many people sell their private property and downgrade to a HDB flat to get cash to retire. Actually you don’t need $500k for 10 years. $300k is enough as you need only $30k pa for retired couple. If you cook your own meals you only need about $500 pm for groceries. No need to buy expensive food. Buy cheap but nutritious food. Transport is also cheap with public transport.

Currently my net worth is more than $1 mil. At 55 after I sell my paid up condo and collect my CPF, I can retire. I value early retirement. I don’t need to earn more money. I know of people who died before 65. I want to enjoy retirement as early as I can since I can afford it. I don’t need to retire in a condo. I don’t need a car. I want a simple retirement lifestyle

Well done! You are enlightened!

I retired at 44 after a high flying career. Regret not retiring earlier!

Default Better late than never

Started work late, so late 30s now and salary at S$300k p.a.

Single with no family commitments. Assets of S$1m with 50% paid up and a car which is fully paid up.

Not sure when is a good time to retire but with ever increasing living expenses, doubt it can be anytime within the next 10 years.

Thinking about semi-retiring in 5 years. Now 38 in high pressure work environment. Just aiming to go for contract position or simple jobs with lesser responsibilities earning 1.5 to 2K good enough. Even ok with those temperature taking assistant kind of job.
