To expect same level of renumeration is difficult
Furthermore, polyclinic don’t operate at night or public holidays.

Erm.
U really don't know much but like to talk so much.
M.medders FP in ops paid more than Ur normal anchor in GP.
Becuase they are not a gp but a trained doctor providing primary care.
The system recognise their expertise , training and pay them the equivalent of a specialist

Pple are leaving ops becuase of the work stress.
GP work is really simple and relatively well paid.

What patient pay in ops is irrelevant.
They pay 14 for consult but the clinic get up to 60 dollars from the

That is not true. I just received an offer from my ops HR last week. (One of the r4 taking exam this November)

They told us both the offers if we pass or don't pass mmed
If pass, mmed fp total is around 180k/year including the young fp bonus of 50k paid over 3 years.
If fail, rp pay is around 130k/year. Obviously no fp bonus.

I reckon your pay will stay around 180-200k per year for next 3 years. (You have yearly increment, but your young fp bonus ends after 3 years, so I think your annual package will be around the same until you clear fellowship or get promoted to AC. Getting increasingly hard to get AC nowadays without fellowship- may need to wait longer)

ALL my anchor gp friends earn more than 200k, (ard 200-250) but I accept they have to either work 1-2 nights a week. (Most work half day sat and don't work sun)

So I think the mmed pay higher in ops rhetoric is a myth (maybe after 5 years in service when one gets AC, but definitely not a fresh mmeder)

I am not saying that ops is not good, and I recognize there are some things in public that private can never offer (teaching, research, more leave/mc etc) but we have to be factual and objective when it comes to pay.

Dont be too proud of being a mmed FP, patients dont even know what it means or the value of it , they just look at everyone as “ polyclinic doctor “ and u have no decision making autonomy, when complaint comes boss just blames u vs a clinic owner is rly different

For some Drs its all about ego. Either they say their pay higher so their ego can be bigger than yours or they say their title (MMED FP oooh lala) is bigger than yours so their ego is bigger than yours.
Frankly I think money more is better. These titles cannot eat one.
Totally agree with you as an MMed FP in Polyclinic unless you are Head then is something. Pay usually less than clinic owner.
But not so sure those locum or simple pte clinic employee is better than OPS or not.
Quick question. Work in Polyclinic can ever hit 500k a year or not?

True I agree with you too. Work for govt got stability. And just do the necessary. Make sure all boxes ticked. Collect salary. It's not like move to pte the pay is DOUBLE that of a MMed right? Don't hear of Polyclinic Drs earning 500k.
In the pte side also don't think got unless is aesthetics or owner of GP chain maybe.
Must know how to keep sane too.
