A couple of years back, a partner at SLB also moved to A&O Singapore as a partner there.
That said, A&G’s transactional banking department’s reputation is definitely top notch and the ranking tables would show that. SLB’s banking department is typically ranked tier 2, behind A&G and WP, and that’s for good reason - the better work life balance that the partners and associates choose.

To add, do note that doing 3 years constant 3ams is no joke. It takes a toll on your health and your relationships, and when you move to an international firm, your life generally do not get better. So it’s not a case whereby you have “made it” after pulling 3 years of 3am at A&G. It is just the start...

It cuts ties only because it's a signal to firm A that firm B is better. It pisses people off. And they might be out of recruitment cycle

Lame, this sounds petty tbh.
Why would HR of one firm collaborate with HR of another firm?
Anyway, only heard of in the legal profession. No where else do we have people who get blacklisted for leaving a job

Leaving a job doesn’t get you blacklisted. Breaching a contract does- and that’s essentially what you are doing if you accept another TC or another position after signing a contract with a firm.

I think they don't sign TCs yet haha. For some big 4s I heard they don't sign till their Part B starts

From Big 4. You sign soon after being offered and accepting. It's a contract.

ordinary mid: tkqp, qwh, harry elias
small: chinatown firms, most of the specialist crim/fam firms, hoh law corp (if you're not looking purely at number of lawyers but prestige)
