I will frame the perspective differently.

Assuming employer decide to terminate you on medical reasons, is that even allowed?
If it is allowed, then it make sense not to give the 'ammunition' to them by letting them know you are not healthy.

But then on the otherhand, if you are really not healthy and want to hide/lie to get a job then you are intentionally witholding material information that may legitimately cause you to to be fired.

But if employer openly states they do not discriminate against candidates for health, race, language, citizenship, etc . Then as a candidate, if you declare the 'unhealthy' status and is not offered a job.... you can complain to MOM or somewhere

So in a nutshell, why not just be trueful on your health status?

I work with the HR of a multinational bank that hires from other countries as well as Singpaore. I conduct hundreds of background checks all the time. Previously I worked with one of the background check companies and I know how they are making easy money.

For starters, several facts in Singapore are impossible to verify. eg credit checks, criminal history, arrest record, etc. My comany charged 500$ to merely check the IPTO bankruptcy records. We could check these records for free. We never could check if a guy had been arrested in Singapore. Yet banks were happy to pay us 500$ to check. Same for loan and repayment records of an applicant.

Even previous employers did not always respond or respond with relevant details.

To cut a long story shot, save money. Background check companies are not worth the money. You can check for yourself if your employees are backrupt. Other details can never be checked properly. Go with your gut, not with an overpriced agency.

HI i was offered a contract job in a bank( IT side) through a Recruitment consultant. My employer will be recruitment agency.and they are asking for credit report.What do they look for in my credit report? if i miss 1 or 2 payment does it effect ?Thanks

This is a very sensitive document. Please report this demand to MOM. Such company need to be investigated.

Is there any MAS Regulation that any contract employee need to be verified about their credit report? Financial institution is the end client( of employer) ,not would be employer.

I do not think that I have ever had my references called up before and wish to know your experiences. I reckon that they probably only do reference checks for Exec level and above.

I am in the job hunt again and gotten two rounds of interview for a gahmen job. Does the public sector check on your references??? Any experiences?

For statutory board and govt sector. They do reference check. Basically some people misunderstood. The reference check doesn't check on the performance of the candidate. Like whether he perform or never perform for the job. The reference check is mainly to check the employment date and salary slips and whether candidate got inflate his own position.
For govt sector they do that. For private sector is subjective. If you are applying for entry level position, they won't bother doing referee check one

If you are a citizen of Singapore, please approach your mp and seek help. Many ft managers in IT firms are making wrong demands.

Can background checks from HRs of big banks / MNCs identify an employer I was working for if I do not list that experience on my resume? Is it possible that they obtain this information from govt sources?

I just got a termination letter (no reason given) with salary in lieu from my company. How to avoid my potential future company from knowing it ? or know it during interviews ?

Can I just submit my previous month payslip ?
