But currently working in Ops and handling ASEAN benefits (Compensation & Benefits) projects with a Global MNC, will it be easier with the brand name to move into Comp and Ben or even BP after one year experience in this post.
Please advise, currently at a cross junction about the prospects.
This kind of role no future one. Benefits in ASEAN consist of nothing but endless admin on insurance, leave, long service award and other welfare administration, this has nothing to do with a proper C&B or BP role at all.

I am currently a HR executive with 2 years experience as a generalist earning 2.5k. I am also taking a part-time degree with unisim currently. Can I know if i am currently underpaid? & how much should i expect when i completes my degree?

Currently employed in a small SME as I am still studying for my degree. Will it affects my CV if I would like to apply for MNC in the future?

2.5k is already slightly above fresh degree grad for generalist role, even if you manage to secure a generalist exec job in a global MNC 2.8-3k is the max u can go.

Anyway for administrative HR degree doesnt really matter, esp something like Unisim which is purchase by many hr generalist / assistants during their free time.

in hr is more impt to have specialised knowledge and exp to get the jump, otherwise ur boss will laugh off if u just get a pt generic deg and expect him to pay u more just to do the same old admin work.

Would definitely like to gain more experience in specialised fields however would only be able to do so after completely my degree due to financial & time commitment. Therefore, would like to ask if my current generalist job would affect my future chances of getting into more specialized job (eg. in C&B)

My 2C:

The problem isn't the fact that you are in an SME - I mean what difference from an employer point of view does it make between a generalist administrator in SME Pte Ltd and another in Exxon Mobil?

The main problem I can forsee in you taking up a C&B sepcialised job is your lack of academic credentials. Most C&B specialist start off either in prime management consultancies or graduate from global MNC management associate programs. TBH I dun see how a part time degree from Unisim helps at all when even FC honors students from the local unis struggle to get selected.

You are better off sticking to the generalist ops career and just move up slowly from there. For such jobsthere is not much difference between SME or MNC as its basically just processing transactions or low level recruitment at the end of the day.

Sometimes ppl just have to admit they are not cut out to take the high paying jobs. Just like all the pte uni grads always dreaming of joining as a investment / pte banker, not going to happen. Life is unfair but what to do???

Why exactly is C&B so difficult to crack or get into? Is it truly that "prestigious" or "glamorous"? Are C&B specialists and managers paid a lot?

I am a final year NTU Biz student. Are my chances of joining prime management consultancies like Mercer or Tower Watson as a C&B associate consultant low? Are these two consultancies reputable?

C&B is just like any other spec job within HR such as L&D, OE, CDI, HRIS, BP etc. although it is more Finance / investment based I think. The reason why many HR ppl dream of getting into spec is because the pay is easily 2.5-3x of the normal generalist ops job for the same level.

Mercer / Towers considered mid range consultancies. If you can get in and last for a few years, no matter what career prospect is much better than joining a entry level generalist HR executive job. My uni classmate now working in a MNC as OD specialist drawing 6.5k after 3 years.

i dun understand why so many people in this thread keep insist want to join as hr spec after school. the pay is confrim much better, but seriously most people here dun even have a 1 class honors from smu/nus/ntu and some even worse only pte degree / poly.

it is good for youngster to have ambition and aim high, but a lot of times must also be realistic about your expectation. if you are not the cream of the crop, then concentrate on getting a decent job, be humble and learn from experience and in time can also succeed financially.

instead of dreaming about landing a bp/c&b/oe etc specialist upon graduation and making 10k before 30, it is better to concentrate on spending first 20 years learning and growing steadily in a decent role. many ceo/cfo/coo start off with humble backgrounds and first jobs also.

just my humble opinion, no offence to anybody
