You can't hit GEO5A in 7 years of service. You need to climb to the salary ceiling of GEO5 before your school will start to consider you for possible promotion to 5A. This is programmed to take way more than 7 years.

All depend on branch, bosses and dept .

Anyone can relate to this? That every morning u wake up and you wonder why you are in teaching but you know if you resign there is no other routes. If need to change to a new job, it takes courage because it is going to be a steep learning curve.
And you would be envious or even jealous of those in private sectors who are who can move between companies and earning much more than you

You from school go to HQ also steep learning curve. Cross level deployment also steep learning curve. Bukit Timah IP school to neighbourhood school also steep learning curve.

Stagnate say stagnate la. Don't blame MOE for not having the diversity of growth opportunities. It's a huge organisation. You want to do HR work also have (seriously, check open posting).

If your main teaching subject is a humanities subject like history/geography with second CS being social studies, can you still go for cross deployment to primary schools? Will you have to teach a subject like say, English? How will you be trained to do this and is the training enough for you to become proficient in teaching this? Cause it’s like moving to new level and new subject.

If anyone has experience with this, would really appreciate it! Good to consider this option since many primary schools are high need schools with more KP roles available

padegogically most are way way better now

in terms of content, no. the decline began abt 20 years ago as the economy grew but as the economy grew more rapidly over the last decade the academic caliber of the teaching force went down. good uni studebts had better prospects elsewhere esp as the demands of teaching grew.
this is very very evident at the jc level. the best teachers left for tuition. see adverts of these tuition centres
that said nowadays teachers can’t talk to the wall so they are better that way

Yup I second this post. Only staff who has hit GEO5 ceiling, and has put in consistent good performance thereafter (meaning you cannot just go 5A the following year), will be considered for GEO5A.

Also, usually HQ staff (newly transferred), they will rather take in SEO1 instead. HQ will already have their own saturated GEO5/5As. So this is also unheard of.

If the OP of that info is telling the truth, please straighten all the facts first.

If you're just here to add another warped figure into the list, please go away.
