Hi, may I ask,
1. Is AD2 is a senior position? Like an informal team lead?
2. Are the junior DDs just team lead or real middle management? Because there is also different tiers of DD, so this is confusing for me.
3. Are all AD1s automatically promoted to AD2 after 3 years (like how the progression from associate to AD1 is kind of automatic?)

1. Not that I’m aware. Depending on your caliber your peers and juniors may regard you as a “lao jiao” to seek informal advice from but more as a buddy level than team lead.

2. Junior DD, if you’re referring to DD1, is just a tier higher than AD2. They are neither team lead nor middle management. Just a senior individual contributor, and you will see many examples of “junior DD” amongst mid-career hires who worked 7-10 years elsewhere and recruited at DD grade.

3. You will be promoted at some point but I don’t think it’s 3 years or automatically.

Some of these information are already on previous threads, albeit slightly outdated. Remember not to expect such spoonfeeding in the office!

You wld hv seen fr previous threads that yoy increment is usually few hundred dollars. For AD1, be happy if you get about $500.

I found out recently that there are developers working for MAS in the Tech Product Team. There is this big loud lady working in that team and she was bragging about her application. Not sure what it does but related to licence one. Seems quite rude when I was visiting the office that she was at. Anyone knows her? Maybe she can bring the transformation in MAS 😁

Don’t know her but rude can be quite subjective. Some people’s voices are just louder and some are also natural braggarts

Can anyone share the pay scale for ad2 and dd1?
