I don’t think DD1 ceiling is $11k but it wld not be considered unusual to receive only $200-300 yearly increment

Don’t you smell the sarcasm. The post was in response to a comment that ceiling for ad2 and dd1 is low. Who does not want higher pay, even honest workers who are not jiak liao bee. But there was a ED (you know how much they are paid right) once commented that $10k is considered highly paid. What can we say? Everything is relative to how much work has to be put in for the pay. It also goes back to what is the source that generates the income. So don’t look at your equivalent in private bank and ask why they are paid more.

This is just an estimated from various sources , you may classified that as not verified or provide your inputs too.
.
Grade 13 - Associate Rank (This is undergrad rank, typically for people whom are 1-3 years experience)
.
Grade 12 - Assistant Director 1 (There are 2 "AD" rank, this is for people whom have around 3 years experience to 7 years experience really depending on your performance and opportunity)
Grade 11 - Assistant Director 2 (This is the Senior Assistant Director rank, but on the outside its just AD, this is for people whom have 5years of experience onwards. No really an upper bound as some people might be stuck here for some years, some back office staff can stuck this rank till 10-15 years is normal, they just get few percent increment each year.
Grade 10 - Deputy Director 1 (There are total 4 levels of Deputy Director, the fastest I seen is 6years+ , those are for scholars or special people. For faster farmers they take about 8 years, 9 years and 10 years are common for faster farmer too.).
For Grade 9, 8, 7 , those are Deputy Director increment in grades. Most people stucked at DD level 2, you need some years to farm to DD3 and DD4, aka Senior Deputy Director (Internal), but on corporate rank it only shows DD.

Salary package wise, just an estimate. For Bonus, expect only 1 bonus a year (Performance Bonus that is ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 most of the time).
Associate - Basic 4k to 6k (For TO aka graduate officers, they draw about 5k starting)
AD 1 - Basic 5k to 6.5k
AD 2 - Basic 6k to 10k
DD 1 - Basic 9k to 12k
DD 2 - Basic 10k to 14k
DD 3 - Basic 12k to 16k
DD 4 - Basic 14k to 18k
Director 1 - Basic 16k to 20k
Hope this gives everyone a good overview to consider joining.
Pay is not fantastic, but slowly things are changing to be better.

This was from 2022. So estimate for ED would be $21-25k.

Nothing much has changed imo. Still looks about right.
10k a month is nothing. If any ED believes 10k is highly paid, say it out and lets see how many of the department officers quit on him or her
I think we should be able to say openly, public service is a job. Yes is a meaningful job but jobs need to pay well and commensurate with workload and market rate. Public service is not politics. We did not run a campaign for the citizens to ask for a chance to serve. We are hired via interviews and tests because we were assess to have certain skills and expertise which are necessary for public governance.
Level of taxation wont change if you reduce all the public sector salaries. It will change if there is a change in politics. Just look around the world

Maybe they were not comparing to salaries of senior DDs, Directors and themselves but attempting to consider the feelings of associates and AD1s who do most of the grunt work, not to mention registry staff.
This is not within the scope of this discussion thread but you do know that taxation levels in Singapore are low compared to other major jurisdictions right?

The public service is a job, but there is a reason why its called the public service in the first place. Our mission is not to make a profit, but to serve the public interest.
You sure think "this guy talking cock la" but I believe in it. If you don't, then I think it would be most honourable of you to resign from your position.
Before you even talk about salary, did you forget how much job security being in the public service offers you? That you can service your housing loan without the worry of losing your job? That you can pay for your kids' tuition fees without wondering how much money needs to be set aside for food because you now have zero income?
If you are in FSG (or even if you are not), you will know how much retrenchment is going in our FIs. It is increasingly difficult to find jobs in the financial sector. If you say 10k a month is nothing, then perhaps its best you leave for the private sector and prove your worth. You may well be shocked by the results.
I find it abhorrent that people keep complaining about salaries but don't realize the massive perks of being in this job.

Hi, anyone can share their experience in quitting MAS for a role in financial sector? While notice period is 1 month, need to inform dept heads at least 3-6 months before. Doesn’t this mean that notice period is actually 3-6 months… How do people move like that?

Notice for AD or DD joining financial sector is 3 months. Only if you’re in sensitive role or access to sensitive info then may be extended. Default is 3 months. Then after you tender you will be cut off from meetings and other info sources. So that by the time you leave your info less valuable. Ha ha ha…

Prease ni lah. Simi quit on ED. Most of the JLBs wont survive outside. That’s why they will continue to stay in MAS and just complain anonymously during town hall
