guys i need advice. having big headache and struggling for the past few days.

current in the pte sector, got offered into public sector. but the offer is a big pay cut of 800+. i am not a scholar, holding a pte degree with 2nd lower honours.

i understand there will be increment but what is the average increment? i think it might take 4 years just to match back to current (assuming yearly increment). Also given that i am a non-scholar, i am uncertain about promotion and etc. please advise TIA

Say you have a boss with very bad command of the language. You write papers in perfect grammar.

But during the review, she keeps introducing grammatical errors.

You highlight them, track the changes, and inform her that there are errors and you have made edits.

She rejects all your edits and the errors are all still there.

Then she wants you to submit the work, with all her errors, to the higher level.

And so, the biggest people in your workplace will think you are the one with the terrible language. And then the repercussion is, you get passed over for promotions.

How do you handle this?
this happens with all the civil servants born in the 60s to 70s. thankfully our younger generation's standard of english aren't as bad....

average degree holder in civil service gets annual increment of around $350...

well, if u think about it, CS has the best job security that lets u work n farm until 65 (or is the retirement age 67 now?) without getting retrenched.

Is it true that one needs 3 consecutive Bs to promote to next grade? Asking because of two reasons:
1) i did not get any Bs in my 2+ years in the service. Does it mean I stand zero chance of promotion at my 5 year mark?
2) my colleague got promoted this year but past few years she keep complaining that "work so hard also no use, because everyone gets C or at most C+ anyway". want to establish if she had been blatantly lying in front of everyone's face about her grade.

No need 3. I was promoted with only 2 B grades.

Can those in the CS advise whether the ceiling for mx11 and mx11a, is still 7119 and 8555? I left ministry to join a stat board last year, and plan to apply back to ministry. Thanks!

Hi, can anyone advise?
FCH graduate from ntu accountancy, 1 year of experience in Big 4.
What kind of positions should I be applying for (Executive? Senior execytive?) and what kind of pay should I expect?

Currently drawing $3.2k/month, expected to be 3.3-3.4k later this year.
