1. im currently a mx12 drawin $4,5xx , in svc of close to 5 yrs
2. high possibility that i will b promoted to mx11 nxt yr

i've been waitin for the promotion, however my boss only upgraded my cep in the last ranking session. i'm sick of the wait, hence seeking advice should i cont waitin or is it possible for me to jump to stats board holding a snr position?

will there be any significant pay increment if i cross over to stats board? or the increment will be close to my current pay?

thanks.
With MX12, you will not hold any senior position if you jump to stat board. In fact, you will either be employed as entry level, or just one level above entry level.

As with all job, salary increment with job hopping is dependent on your value, and not so much because of what you're earning right now. What is your current role and what value will you bring over to the next agency? Are they in dire need of your skill sets currently? These are some questions you have to ponder, and will determine how much can you negotiate for increment.

I have a local uni pass degree. Am I out of the race in the public sector? Does the public sector hire pass degrees at all?

those roles that required specialized/technical skills (engineering, stats, econs, etc) is definitely out. u can try other more general roles...

but even if u can get in, i dont think u sld... u will be forever sidelined by the scholars and then the first class.

But I have an IT degree...

I know DSTA, CSIT, ASTAR, and DSO definitely out.

How about the Polytechnics? IDA? CPF? MOE? SAF? I see them hiring software engineers related job sometimes.

Wherever you go, it won't matter, you will still be promoting very slowly, if even at all, as compared to your peers with better qualifications.

not really concern about promoting though... more concern on which organisation will give me a chance.
