u are only lucky u can get the job. Or that statboard really desperate. Usually for my company we will take someone who says he has no other offer

agree with lmaohaha. how can it be that's ure applying only for one job, especially when ure a fresh grad?
also believe that it is not all about money. many other considerations, ESPECIALLY for fresh grad from the Gen X or Gen Y era - job scope, interest, job fit, working environment and personal development count for a lot these days. Especially so when the jobs you're applying for don't differ that greatly in terms of pay. these are the differentiating factors then.

Hiring the applicant who has no other offer - the applicant is either untruthful (most likely) or is wanted by no one else.
I would be interested to know which other offers are on the table for the prospective applicant to see how in demand he is (even if what he says could be untrue).

Sounds like your company is the one that's desperate. Candidate with no offer = less attractive since no companies fighting for him/her

U are doubting my credentials lol? I tink ur coy is prob the only one in the world that works this way. A true talent is always sought after by many coys. By saying u got no other job offers and only considering that coy shows how desperate one is. U basically just threw away your bargaining chips. Do u watch soccer? Wonder why so many clubs still go to great lengths to sign top players even when they know competition is going to be intense? Will a club back off just because this top player is holding on to other offers as well? Think hard, pal

person who posted this qn was talking about civil sector jobs where budget is of the least concern here. smes perhaps think along such lines. anyway, the bottomline is just be honest. if u try to heighten ur value by saying u got other offers and they somehow managed to discover (rmb civil sector is quite well connected), then i think u can prepared to get blacklisted.

Hi. Just to share, I think I am in one of the lowest paid Govt agency. 5 yrs working experience in govt (excluding NS), 2nd lower, I am getting 4.5k only. Pay adjustment is super rare here, and when we have them, it is usually very low.
Even with the recent increase of 5-10% for most govt agencies, ours came with the our annual increment. Meaning, our total increment, with the annual adjustment, was just 5-10%. This % increase was what other places got in their single round of adjustment. They had further rounds and also their annual adjustment later on. We had none of those.
That's why, we are losing people faster than we can hire. so pls be careful when you join! Not all agencies pay as well!

Still better than Mr Bean from GLC, same 2nd lower with NS 5 years exp, always complain about the increment, and yes, what he stated, 2 salary adjustment & 4 annual increment & 1 year pay freeze + 1 promotion in 5 years.......I think he now getting only 38xx.....
38xx compare to your 45xx, same 2nd lower with NS same 5 years exp.....you are still better man...
you either from NEA or NPARK or LTA ???
so how much should one be getting with 5 years of exp in civil service/statboard? Can provide a range of salary?
from various government website, a 2nd lower with NS is already getting approx 3.5k min in civil service/statboard in 2012..
