The reason I post my question earlier, cos I got to know of my colleague pay package and they’re earning at least 1k higher than me and some even more with less work experience than me, although they might have local diploma or degree cert with them. Doesn’t work experience counts as well and my colleagues who are senior to me interms of working in CS earlier than me. They have half the work experience than me and have a different pay package. So I was wondering if I could be paid unfairly and why the huge difference in pay package.

Then I would assume HR doesnt count some of your past experiences as relevant AND probably your colleague(s) has degree. I am sure you agree paper qualifications matter in CS.
If you think you are underpaid, the only thing you can do to reverse the situation is to get a degree or jump around jobs.
I have seen people 50yrs old going back to university.

Hi people,
I have a question here:
If I am offered both roles (role 1 & role 2) and between for both of these roles :
Role 1 is a senior manager with mx11 salary range & not really related to what I have been doing previously and the other option ,role 2 , which is related to what I have been doing but is an Ast manager role with mx 12 salary range.
In the event that I chose role 1 for now which is the mx11 salary range , and in the future if I were to apply for a job with any gov agencies , will i be offered a salary progression meaning to say like mx 10 onwards or so for a role that is related to what I have been previously working as or will they only take account more towards the related working experience when they make a salary offer ?
Which role will you guys choose ? For the pay or for the closer to what have been doing previously ?
Thank you !

Provisional Offer
Hi!
Could anyone advise what's the next step after hr emailed to make a provisional offer? is reference checks cleared?
offer is a 1y contract. extension of contracts or convert to perm depends on performance and availability of position. is it common?

Current pay will be dependent on your last drawn pay. Your colleague last drawn maybe higher than you. Thus, they can demand for more. That's why when we look for job, never accept pay cut. As this will have a long term effect down the career path.

I will choose Role 1 which give you higher pay and rank. What's the point of keep doing the same thing at role 2? After gaining some experience in role 1, you can always package your experience with your previous job and position yourself for a even higher pay job.

Thank you for your reply .
That’s how I felt so too .
The progression for role 2 might not be there or will be very slow too & most likely will take a few years to climb to where role 1 is .
Hopefully the role 1 will have more career prospects after that .
