well said. Down with bankers!

To qualify for HDB's BTO scheme, I've asked her to give up her career for a year so as to meet the income criteria.

Whilst we can buy a condo directly, we wanted to go through the normal progression of HDB upgrading to Private later. Also understand that we can keep our HDB flat if we buy it first before private property (but not the other way around)

I have been working for about 5 years, whilst she has worked around 3+. Rationale is that she can go back into the industry after our HDB purchase is successful and pay should not be too different from what she used to draw (since her base is low anyway)

Anyone who have gone down this route we advice to spare?
and there you go. couple > 100k a year have to cut down on earning. so low income is 100k? it's true, 250k is the new 48k. for ********ters.

You should be the one that should wake up! If all the rich people behave like you, the economy would collapse in no time! Can you imagine if everyone just earn and squirrel money away in milo tins under the bed and spending the bare minimum??? How is the economy going to move if people dont spend??

I am not asking you to become a spendthrift, but if you have the means, please spend to help the economy, you cant bring them to your grave!!!

The earlier post re not spending money on flashy cars and reply folliwing which said "grow up".
To put things in perspective, the guy with the Nissan may be focusing on property instead, so he is also contributing to the economy.
The statement "growing up" was uncalled for, in my opinion.

Wasnt the growing up statement for the guy who claim to have bought a BMW just to show off to his colleagues?

To ask someone to "grow up" is a tad too condescending don't you think? Assume honest sharing, the poster was just sharing his own manner of managing expenses. So who are we to judge him?

Those property speculators are a bigger detriment to society than the previous poster, in my opinion.

agreed. all those self claimed "wiseman" who takes joy in accumulating wealth and showing off their paper gains are no different than those who spend money on themselves and others.

At least the later contributes to the general economy and spread the wealth around. The first, selfish group of wise phucks, may they carry their bank booklets smiling into their coffins. (and may their grand kids do society some justice and spend every drop of it)

Don't worry. No matter what as Asians say: the wealth will not last after 3 generations. Spend now, spend later, at the end after the third generation, it will all disappear. The trick therefore is not to become the third generation, lots of headache fighting your siblings and in the end it's all the lawyers who benefit.

Why arent you arguing for me? Isn't someone calling me a wisephuck for saving money much more condescending then asking someone who admits that the only reason he bought a BMW was to show off to grow up? Damn trolls defy logic
