How much does a retired couple need assuming they are debt free?

Some people say $2000 pm is enough for them

Some people say need $2 mil in cash

If you look around at coffee shops the retired uncles don’t seem to need much. They sit at the coffee shops drinking coffee and eat lunch. The most they spend maybe $10 per day so $300 pm is enough as long as they don’t gamble.

So $2000 pm for a retired couple is more than enough if they are frugal.

You think life is just about eating and drinking?

Household expenses, leisure, medical, you don't need all those things? Just eating sleeping and shitting you might as well be a plant

Retirement monthly expenses for retired couple
- Food and groceries = $700
- Utilities, wifi and mobile = $350
- Public transportation = $200
- Medical insurance = $600
- Miscellaneous = $150
- Total = $2000
Thank you. $2000 pm for a retired couple will suffice since they are debt free.

Troll spotted. I am in a PE firm and I assure everyone here that this is incredulous. Even more so that PE deals only come good after some number of years depending on the nature of the investment.

Bonus is different from carry...whether it's fund carry or deal carry. You sure you work in the industry?
