Yeah, sorry it'll be more accurate to say that yes 20% goes to Tax and CPF. And I've voluntarily top-up both my CPF and husband's CPF account every year.

About being the sole breadwinner - I think it's stressful regardless of being a female or male. In my case, some days I do fantasize that I could just rely on a wealthy spouse and be a taitai. Lol.

But to be fair, my husband is quite a good catch in all other aspects. He takes care of our family and even extended family very well. It just happened that I'm the risktaker in the relationship, and some risks have paid off (and some didn't!).

So being a sole breadwinner is part of the reason why I'm anxious most of the time. They say having some money takes most of your problems away. Perhaps it's true. But in my case, it only makes me fearful of loss (I used to earn just S$700 a month, and have lost big sums on bad bets) and want to hoard more. So often depressed and cannot just enjoy the moment.

I wanted to seek therapy, but it is SO EXPENSIVE.

Get covid and all your hard earned millions is gone in an instant.

Unfortunately our covid numbers are festering because the economy is always more important than Singaporean lives, so the chance of getting covid and dying is always there.

About 80% living in HDB flats and you are retired in a condo. Obviously you can retire. You don’t need a GCB to be happy. I think you’re the most successful person in this forum. Early retirement living in a condo and still owning a car. Impressive!

That is why enjoy your life every day. Regardless of what you have through, you have determine how to live from now on..Remember you are financially better now compared to when you first started.

Hi, yeah my apologies, it's more accurate to say 20% to both tax and CPF. I've also voluntarily top-up both my husband's and my own CPF account the last 2 years (Treat it like savings. Don't see, don't think.)

Being the sole breadwinner is stressful! I'm sure men feel that way also. But as a female, not only am I stressed that I'm the only one supporting the family financially, but also mom-guilt for not being able to spend as much time with our kid.

TBH, I get anxiety and mild bouts of depression some days. To top it off, I feel guilty for being sulky, because I know I'm in a relatively fortunate position than many.

Did you ask this because you're also a sole breadwinner?
