Besides, just to play you at your own game, you do know that you M&A/finance advisory lawyers are just here to cover our backs right? I'm in a bulge bracket investment banking role (general IBD coverage) in Singapore and we only call on you guys when the client insists or compliance breaks our backs about it. And what's the big deal about 20k 6PQE? My associate earns more than that excluding bonus and perks (and he's 4 years out of school)
Also, this reminds me. A couple of weeks ago one of you guys (CC, A&O, LL, FF - deliberately being vague for anonymity) sent a couple of EQUITY partners (APAC-head level) to our office to give us a presentation on 'Asia anti-trust laws'. Tbh 90% of the bankers in the room couldn't give a crap about any of this - all we wanted was to get back to finishing up our work so we could leave the office before midnight that day.
So know your place and stop being such a dick - we were all students once. And go ahead, try saying I'm not in BB front-office IBD - happy to oblige with non identifiable proof if I ever have the time or inclination to do so

BB IBD bankers don't waste time reading and writing about things which don't impact their lives. Only Boredphuck lawyers like us do. So be a dutiful slave, stop daydreaming about IBD and go back to churning your docs.

Hypocrite. Similarly, bankers grovel at their private equity clients' feet. Everybody gets **** on at some point unless you're the principal with f u money.

Also, do you get the NY level pay or is it cut down? I've heard Latham SG/Russia? (lmao) didn't get the NY 180K pay rise that other jurisdictions (incl. Ldn, HK) did.
Finally, any chance of laterals getting COLA? (even if native, thanks).

I think it is fair to say that the US firms in SG are dominant only in a few specialised areas, namely finance, capital markets, investment funds and PE. The UK firms seem to get a good chunk of the M&A work - not to say that US firms don't do M&A, just that they are not dominant there. Hard to predict the future but do factor in the impact of technology - assuming you are a corporate lawyer, choose areas/firms that allow you to do drafting and negotiation of complex contracts. Get out of DD and simple contracts which can be automated asap.
I am getting full Cravath scale but most US firms are still at the 160k scale or have their own trans-atlantic scale - so really depends on a firm to firm basis.
Yes, quite a few US firms offer COLA to laterals from overseas.

Haha sure go ahead and laugh. The fact of the matter is, anyone in my immediate office area earns multiples (pun intended) of what you MC guys earn at EVERY level.
Like I said, already offered proof. I think it would be rewarding to post it just to see you shut the **** up. On the other hand, you spewing out generic conference room numbers don't really do a lot for your credibility do they? Back to your back office working on the term sheet agreement that was due yesterday night mate, the Thai regulator ain't gonna wait around forever for your slow ass

but you haven't explained yet why you're so piss poor at covering your tracks and pretending to be something you're not.
we've already picked apart your post in short order. there's more to add but i can't be bothered.
its called having an eye for detail, something you should pick up if you want to be a better lawyer rather than sitting around and daydreaming about being something you're not.

Yo mate... whatever you're saying doesn't even make sense. It's all just yada yada if you look at the big picture, you don't even address the points I make.
It's my last post here - I have since come to the realisation how pathetic I have fallen to be arguing online with anonymous trolls who think IBD is some untouchable place of the gods. I also don't have any more time. Whether or not I really come from IBD is immaterial, the point still stands - IBD makes more than you MC kids at every level. So keep your ginormous ego in check in front of the students here just because you got into CC.
By the way, I have also forwarded the link and a saved PDF of this thread (anonymously of course) to various CC Singapore emails (HR, general corporate inquiries as well as partners that work with us on deals and your global C-suite as well). I'm sure that if you really are from CC, it shouldn't be too hard to find the 6PQE lawyer coming in from Big 4 that watched a group of 8 interns present in conference rooms on the 25th floor last week eh? I think that at the very least your esteemed employer should know the true calibre of the people they take in.
Good night.

Looks like you are still on meds with your imaginary "deals" with CC partners. Also, you act as though professionals will read random emails from a newly created email account - these will end up in the spam inbox or be ignored completely. I really feel like laughing.

Hi all,
I have heard the adage that "class of honours is forever". How true is this?
