Yeah I am truly shocked at this statement. Isn't NYU better than Oxbridge?

In America, Oxbridge is a tier B law school at best. Along the likes of Columbia, Chicago and NYU. It gets blown out of the water by the holy trinity of Harvard, Yale and Stanford.
Only in sinkieland where the best local university is NUS (lol!!!) is Oxbridge seen as some kind of godly accomplishment. Try bringing your precious Oxbridge llb to where it really matters - White shoe firms on Wall Street. You'd get laughed out of the office

Sincerely advise any law students / trainees / junior associates who are on this forum to not rely on anything mentioned here.
There was a time when this forum had a substantial number of well-meaning associates who had worked hard in law school and practice and had achieved enough to be somewhat in the know that were posting regularly and answering questions, but that time is long gone. This forum is complete ********. Work hard in law school, intern / train at a good firm, and ask the questions to the associates / partners there. Or directly approach seniors you know with good grades and in reputable firms. You will get sincere advice from people who are actually qualified to do so.

NYU is well regarded for its business and law schools. Both of which are far above the rest of the university. So yes, Oxbridge = NYU. If Oxbridge is better, it's not by a lot.
Goes without saying that Harvard Stanford Yale >>> Oxbridge. Heck, even Columbia and Chicago give Oxbridge a run for its money.

What a narrow world view you have. Here's how your precious Oxbridge places when I introduce the United States of America.
1. Yale
2. Harvard/Stanford
3. Columbia/Chicago
4. NYU/Oxbridge
Like I said, try getting into a white shoe firm on Wall Street with your Oxbridge llb. You'd most likely get laughed out of the office.

Agreed. People on this forum (now) are mostly people that still make umbrage jokes while screaming to their mothers to bring them their dinner. Doubt any of them are actual practicing lawyers or aspiring lawyers.
This forum has served its purpose in terms of salary information and perhaps lateral hire prospects. It can’t really differ any significantly outside of inflation adjustments and/or extraordinary events like a pandemic. Even for the latter it’ll mostly just be 10-20% cut across the board, in general.
Even at 2 PQE, I find the new batch of law students to be extremely undesirable except the occasional one or two that have a genuine aptitude/passion for the legal industry. I can hardly fault the older gen lawyers for their mistreatment and general detest for the newer gen, no matter how unfair it may be on the newer gen.
Pity that a privilege of having anonymity to discuss and bridge the gap between employer and employee is being wasted. All the best.
