Nah. It really depends on skillset. Once the market settles a bit, deal flows might pick up as investors are looking for cheaply valued assets to acquire. This will in turn lead to more work in other transaction / corporate practice areas.

Are those the reasons you switched to corp?

I almost never hear people switching from Corp to Liti. Is Corp easier than Liti?

freshie intl law firm lawyer (NQ-1 PQE) pay £150k-£170k ; USD 200k! Trainee pay £50-60k!

Sinkie firm, RHT Trainee pay $0!

In our sunny island, you will never be outta a job! RHT will absorb you at a great reduction to your intl firm pay thanks to charitable management.

RHT will even keep the arrangements private. DRD will punish you if you disclose your pay.

Huat ah! Sinkie firms savings many many!

Slogging it out in a small or mid tier Sinkie law firm on paltry $6K $7K $8K pay is really one of the dumbest things you can do. The only upside to working in a B4, also sweatshops, is the shot at better exit options to international firms.

A small or mid tier local firm provides you no such opps. If you ever find yourself in one of these outfits, GTFO as soon as you can. The effort-to-reward ratio is simply not worth it. You can get much better lifestyle in other non-high-flyer corporate jobs for the kind of paltry pay mid tiers are paying their lawyers.

Agreed. Employees please start pushing this narrative and stop letting these small, mid and even b4 take advantage of junior employees. Granted SG overall has a smaller pie to go around compared to our counterparts in other jurisdictions, the disparity is unjustifiable. It might be counter-intuitive to push back on offers made to you all as a junior, who are lowkey desperate to take on any offer, but please bear in mind that you are entitled to negotiate. Negotiating doesn’t jeopardise your offer and if it does, the company isn’t worth working for anyways to begin with.
