Have it on good authority that HSF's position is fake, they just posting the role to satisfy SG's employment laws before hiring a guy they pre-selected from overseas.

You can apply and be a statistic of one of the "lousy local(s)" if you want.
This is the same for most international firms advertisements.

Sounds like this will run afoul of MOM rules?

Yeah but alot of local firms do it too. I can just say that after careful consideration.. pre-selected candidate was the best candidate.

In fact, in mycareersfuture, some firms don't even bother to download your CV once you apply, since they're just going through the motions.

But who will complain against them?

Excellent. It’s a very progressive environment, good mentors and the people are friendly and nice.

Is it worth the cost and effort to get called to UK bar? Now SG lawyer exempt from practical assessment so it's easier. Would it be a boost to career prospect if going FAANG/ F500 in-house and/or practice? Also how tough is the SQE1(or the old QLTS)?

Studying and working full time like damn shag esp when billable target so high

Unlike the old QLTS which means you don’t need any working experience, just complete MCT and OSCE, the SQE requires you to have 2 years full working experience in law. This could be signed off by someone who is already a solicitor of England and Wales. Also, it seems that the SQE2 exemption is not a given. Based on a literal reading of the rules, you have to send in your qualifications for assessments (idk what does that mean) but the SRA can ask that you do the SQE2.

I heard people said they started culling people like crazy so everyone is on edge, most people looking for a way out.

Why culling? Financial issues?

Imo RHT always gave off the air of being run like an ultra local SME type environment, full of Chinese towkay pattern partners.

Also with the try too hard vibe with all their side business lines and corp services companies.

Not my cup of tea personally. If I had to join a mid tier, would rather grind somewhere else like Harry Elias or CNP, which are approximately around the same tier.
