Any recommendations on which small/boutique firms that I should apply to for summer internships? I think I need to start applying to small firms because it’s been more than 2 weeks already. And probably more difficult to get internships at mid-sized firms at the point

Default How to get Part-Called

Hey, does anyone have any idea what the practical steps to get part-called are? I know we have to file a summons and an affidavit, but what are the forms for those? And what happens next? Thank you!

Advocatus - liti (ex A&G, if im not wrong)
Eugene Thuraisingam - crim liti, gen liti (ex A&G)
Covenant - team dependent, lots of liti files tho (ex R&T, if im not wrong)
Farallon - corp, then liti (ex Drew)
Peter Doraisamy - liti (ex DMS)
Providence Law - liti (they are all the rage atm so i highly doubt it, but no harm trying)
Jacque Law - med neg (ex big firm, forgot which)
Eldan law - Construction liti (ex big firm, forgot which)

Actually, can also try braddell, RWW also.

I'd avoid firms like Gloria James/IRB(Fam)/KKLee unless you really really just want to do fam work. More exposure as an intern is better.

You need to file your OS/AAS first.
Then you file your part call summons and affidavit.

There are no forms, you need to ask your seniors/friends for precedents.

Im the poster above. I forgot to mention...

Your summons needs to be issued by your supervising solicitor. The affidavit in support also needs to be affirmed by your supervising solicitor.

The affidavit must state:
-> Your SS supports the application. SS is an SS pursuant to Rule 20(1) LPAR 2011...has been in active practice of not less than 5 out of 7 years blah blah
-> Trainee is a qualified person defined in S2 of LPA
-> T has LLB. enclose cert.
-> T has passed Part A. enclose results.
-> T has done RLT (if relevant), enclose letter from law firm.
-> T has attended Part B. enclose results.
-> date T commenced training. Has trained for a continuous period of 3 months.
-> What T has done in the 3 months with the firm.
-> SS has instructed Trainee in advocacy + court etiquette/conduct expected of A&Ss
-> SS's belief that T is fit and proper person. SS encourages part call to gain exposure to liti work.
->pray for OIT

After this, you can a hearing date. Both you and SS must turn up for the hearing - preferably on time, otherwise you get named and shamed in a multi-page HC judgment by an irate HC judge.

Also the poster above. Pls note that none of my previous 2 posts is to be taken as legal advice. I bear no responsibility if your application fails. It is your responsibility to find out what needs to be filed and how to properly file them.
