Is it better for my career progression/exit opportunities to do general corporate/M&A in a small firm or a specialised field (such as IP, tax) in a big firm?

i think corporate (in the sense of non-disputes) work generally has more relevance outside of practice than disputes. Then within corporate, general corporate / m&a would have the most relevance _in general_ because it can touch on many areas of law.
banking/finance is probably narrower than gen corp / m&a. But I think yes it's very transferable internationally (esp in private practice); but even then not all economies / cities / towns have such a heavy finance presence like SG (or the other beloved cities of SG lawyers).
just my 2c from what i hear from others.

Should I be worried
I am a y2 student and should be doing internships in summer. Applied to several but have no received any offer/rejection. Should I be worried...when should I stop waiting for the replies?

Lurker here. The top 5 under 30yo priority bankers (not private) of each local bank are clearing 1m a year all in easily.
I know an independent insurance agent who just turned 30 who cleared 700 last year.
You just need to not have a conscience. Like in our line of work.

Are you only applying to big firms? By this point in the year.. yeah it's pretty late. But you should still try, people drop out of internships all the time for many reasons.

Apply to ceca law firms and let a ceca come and take your place. Win-win.
