No retention in this economy. Not like we have a shortage of lawyers

KCL Int’l Business Law is good but it’s still very common law based.
If you want a commercial law education, a US school would give you greater business exposure. Esp US securities law.
hmm cos I was only offered KCL LLM. May I ask what is KCL well known for?

This pretty much. I had a study group of 6 peeps during part b.
All oversease uni. Only 2 of us are left in practice. Even then, one has left the big leagues and decided to set up shop herself - doing pretty ok, last i heard.

Think the question is more like - what for you intend to practice. KCL has a few specialist courses - one for construction, one for international financial regulation, etc etc etc.

It is not worthwhile taking up an LLM which you do not intend to use in your professional career. That's just a plain waste of money even if you take it up - this is especially so if you already have a TC offer. 1 year pqe in practice FAR FAR exceeds the value you get from a KCL LLM.

NB, not dissing KCL LLMs. I'm a former KCL LLM Grad. I'm merely speaking from experience. I only left to do my LLM after 3 years - and honestly, i intended for it to be more of a sabbatical and an opportunity to travel/relax rather than for its potential returns (which is really not much). If you read a couple of pages back in this forum, you'll realize that this is generally the consensus on LLMs - not just KCL LLMs in particular.

hmm I am not really wasting any PQE per se because its part of a 4 year NUS LLB + LLM degree programme. I'm also not sure which specialist course I want to get in yet. Do you have any suggestions on which courses I should look into? Thanks!
