Hi there, everyone here sounds so experienced I feel kind of intimidated :P
I'm graduating from the US next February - trying to decide between a job in the US, Malaysia, or Singapore. Although the obvious choice would be the US, but I miss home (Malaysia) and yet I crave for an opportunity to do MORE and of course, earn more! My parents didn't pay a sh*tload of $$$ for me to earn a starting salary of RM2k...
I'm a Marketing major with an Associate's Degree in Fashion Merchandising. I have a 4.0 CGPA (Summa Cum Laude) and am a member of two honors societies. I also have several awards and certs under my belt. I did an internship at an international Fashion company's headquarters in New York last summer.
I'm aiming to work for a multinational FMCG or Retail group. What would a reasonable starting pay be like?
Thanks in advance!

Girl at Crossroads
Its not clear to me whether you are graduating from business school or an undergrad program; Assuming that you are an MBA, I would say that for Singapore, you should be looking at around 70K S$ a year.

Hey girl, you should just join me - I can pay you 80K a year - but are you worth it? Like the rest of the BS'ters here who can't walk the talk.

Oh! Sorry I didn't specify. I'm an undergrad who will graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and an Associates Degree in Fashion Merchandising.

Hi All,
I am 29 this year and have been teaching in one of the polytechnic for coming 3 yrs. My pay is around 5.3k. I teach part-time in some university programmes and my gross monthly add up to $7k. I have a passive income of $3k from my rental and all these sum up to $10k but I just don't feel good. I am looking for a career which can offer me $8-9k in basic.
My specialization is in IT but my passion is in Finance, Foreign exchange (FX) trading. I have been reading FX and tried trading using Saxo platform. I think that I am good as I can make $6k a week using $2k as capital. (Some might wonder why don't i trade for myself. As i have mentioned, i am interested in pursuing a career in FX) I am wondering what does it take to apply to a bank and join them as a FX trader.
Anyone can advise?

I am more fmailiar with the opportunities/pay for MBAs. From what i've seen, your best bet would be to look to join a graduate progran at an MNC of your choice. Typically these are 12- 18 month programs where you will work in different functions/locations of the company; at the end of which you integrate as a manager, usually on a fast-track of some sort. In Sgp you would probably get around 3- 4k a month. Of course this will increase significantly once you complete the program.

To Career Switch,
Your 30% return is definitely unsustainable. You are taking waaaay too much risk. My advice? Dont quit your day job.

Hi all.
Can anyone advice on which School would be best to do part time degree in business/accounting in SG, recognized by most company and reasonable Course Fees. Seem that out there are part time degree which only take 2 yrs to complete, where as some take up to 3yrs.
Now adays with a degree, then will be able to get higher pay and more job opportunities.
In a few years time the 4th university would be set up, by then degree holder will be everywhere.
So maybe it's time to up grade.
Really considering taking up a part time degree.

@DP, yeah I agree... it is a good website, that's why I keep coming back. But this ronaldo and his opponents are obviously cowcrapping lah... maybe should have a separate site for boasting their imaginations at salarybs.sg
