5% shows how much sincerity they have.
Is the uncertainty in the new company worth it? Politics, colleagues, admin, etc... all play a part.
You've been cautious about 15%. Being poached means you can ask upwards of 30%, otherwise, you are just one of the guys, making up numbers and likely there to cover backlogs too...
Sorry for being candid about it.

Hi, I have another similar question to ask. I am currently in a company that I've just joined for 9 months and most likely will have another offer now. The position is different from my current role but offers the same salary but slightly better benefits and is only a contract job.

I am wondering if I should accept the new job cos I don't really like what I am doing now but there's no diff in salary. Any advice?

You should not jump any job without min 25% increase. If downgrade to contract min 30% increase needed to compensate

AGREE!

From perm to contract is super downgrade, for that risk a minimum of 30% is needed for fair compensation, and since its a new job, add another 15%.

Since you dun like ur current job, give them a discount and ask for 25 ~ 30%

What if they're going to offer the same benefits as a perm staff including variable bonuses?

Doesnt matter. Contract means you will be excluded from the career mgt process and ur h/c subject to kana chop by Finance whenever they need to squeeze savings for the year. Being contractor also damage your CV in future if they do reference check.

Only a moron will take up a contract job with the same pay. Min 30% needed to cover for risk in jump ship, contract downgrade & CV damage.

Thanks all for the frank opinion I just felt that moving on so soon is to my disadvantage so am not too sure how to position this negotiation. Guess I have to change my mindset:P
