actually, im going overseas from 5-22jun, and since the beginning of the sem, i just wanted to clinch a job before leaving, or at least an offer. but i still can't just get that one single offer, only constant rejections. and after each rejection, i tell myself its okay, get back up and move forward. but yesterday's one was bad.. i guess because it was the odds, like 5 choose 4, and im the 1 who didnt get chosen. so it really makes me question everything that im doing, and doubting myself as well. but i guess it's a 50-50 thing, in a sense that my mindset was 'tired' and i didnt really give my best there. and the 3 interviewers i had were actually grilling me quite badly. bad luck. seems like its 20% hard work, 80% luck.

but with all that being said, i believe it's all a matter of time. im sorry that i emitting negative energy out here, but thank you all for your support. i'll be fine soon
There is a high % of luck involved in getting selected for an interview but once you are in the room, the % of luck vs aptitude drastically swings the other way. If you keep thinking it is bad luck that you didn't ace the interview, you will never be able to improve on your subsequent ones.

You need to stop being negative and stop blaming it on luck and instead look at how you can improve yourself in interviews.

I have personally been placed in 2 full time perm roles through recruitment agents.
any advice on which are the reputable agents in Singapore for entry level jobs?

Depends on what industry you are in. I am in the banking sector, and have had good experiences with Allegis Group, Kerry Consulting and Robert Walters.

Dun listen to those who said that they get $6k a month after 1.5years etc. Either they are in sales or just working their heads off. (burning themselves away)

Also count your lucky stars that you can even get an interview. I know of alot of grads not even getting a job interview for several months after graduation.

If you manage to get an interview and felt you did well but still unable to secure even an offer, it is high time u sit down and think thru what went wrong after so many face to face attempts. You might have thought you have aced it, but are you being too overly confident in what you said in the interview or even the series of essay writing/replies body language etc etc?

Most experienced recruiters can tell whether you suit the company's culture or whether if you are suitable to join them on your first job.

Just being blatantly blunt here. All the best.

Do you want to be a businessman?

If you do, then become a uber or grab driver. You are your own boss.

Work hard and one day you will be a transport company tycoon.

If you have foreign friends from your course of study, you will also notice that they gets job easily than you can imagine especially with their low wages (below 3k) expectation as a degree holder and no NS liability. I have foreign friends with a master degree asking for 3.2k and PhD asking for 4k. What's more ridiculous is that they told me that they are being offered Singapore citizenship from our govt with the kind of academic qualification they had.

I know where he is coming from because i experience the same situation as well. No doubt the civil service sector is hiring more engineers, it is entirely up to the stat board and the individual department to project their manpower growth and replacing those who are going to retire soon.

As for the salary, i don't think foreigners with master or phd are paid any lesser than compare to our local graduates.

Don't pin too much hope as employers are not stupid enough to pay them one month commission for a job they can do themselves! Then what is their HR for if they engage them?
Yes, totally agree. It makes no common sense at all for any corporate to engage recruitment firms giving them free lunch commission when any single job posting can get many applicants in current supply & demand. Especially if it is non-technical jobs like HR, admin, customer service, marketing, sales, logistics, management etc that anyone is able to do the job, there is sure suitable candidate when u post a job adv on jobs bank and recruitment process is even more simple than engaging recruitment Firms. For me, first thing I see a job adv is the company name, if it's a recruitment agency I will straightaway eliminate the job.
