True. Wasting time and money when you can send directly to the potential employer. My recruitment officer MIA since one month ago. No news, no update. Therefore, no interviews, no job for me. Really a waste of time and transport fee.

I'm not from any recruitment firm, but I don't get what all this bashing is over. Which industry are you guys in?

For me, the recruitment agents in the finance industry are very professional and efficient with their work. Heaps of FIs and NBFIs do not have an inhouse talent sourcing team to handle recruitment needs, as such they source the jobs out to recruitment agencies.

Without these agents, the whole process will be in fact 10x slower.

And to add on, unless it's a temp/hourly paid role, the candidate doesn't have to pay for the agent's services. The agent is paid by the company, usually a month's equivalent of the candidate's salary.

That is exactly why when recruitment agent send your CV to companies, you get 0 response. Cos when they send they will change your contact details to their own agency contact details. When companies see agency contact details, they will auto out you as they don't see any point paying commission, they will only call those individuals who send cv by themselves.

Recruitment agency advs are now messing and screwing all job portals making job searching more difficult & troublesome for everyone.

I work in the banking industry and I've been around for 5 years in 3 jobs. My current and previous job were both through recruitment agencies acting on behalf of the bank.

Of course, there is exception too, probably unless your field is very specialised or your cv is very outstanding. Almost all banks also do advertise jobs themselves on jobs bank. But if talking about in general, why will company want to pay 1 month commission when it is not necessary, right. Giving 2 resumes that are competitive to each other, 1 send himself, 1 send by agency, which will the company prefer?

Precisely. Recruitment agencies are not that helpful. They are flooding the job portals. Damn.
