That’s why got to be very careful when taking up contract positions. Those that state “2-year or 3-year contract”. It means it is supernumerary and to get emplaced on perm you either got to perform so well your Director will go and do the hard work of getting senior management to approve a headcount for you, or you impress other Directors so they will take you in for their openings

This is different from “new employees will be given a n-year contract in the first instance” which means this is more like a probation.

The worst are 11-months contract which you won’t get any bonus at all

Okay yours sounds like it's perm. One year is for confirmation. The funny thing for my case is my previous role after I left they froze the headcount and now my current role is ending and my headcount at old place open back up again. The timing is like almost perfect. I ask them isit they purposely wait for me, they say no... is just really this coincident. Lol.

Sharing my timeline for a MX10 DD role

Week 0 - apply
Week 3 - HR email to arrange interview and for written test
Week 4 - Interview with hiring Director and SD
Week 5 - HR email to arrange 2nd interview
Week 6 - Interview with DS and another DS-level senior mgmt
Week 6 - 2 days later I was asked to submit security clearance form, and asked for 2 referees
Week 15 - Email rejection. They closed the position. A few weeks later saw the organisation advertise on C@G for an AD position

I'm not sure if my D got go request my headcount or not. But she is the very low profile type. I'm not surprise if she didn't, tbh.

Reapply for their AD position or call up the HR to inform you are okay to take the AD post? Secure a job is more important.
