Yup, i'm in the same boat. Manager old school, junior refuse OT and weaponise incompetence. End up associate section also I have to do bc thr junior "cannot finish" or "do wrongly". Job market is non existent for auditors atm. Having horrible anxiety attacks too but cant leave since I also have dependent parents. Only solace is I dont ****ing care if they PIP me so I'm not in IMH yet.
Looks like TikTok has tons of tips on weaponising incompetence. Always the same tricks they employ.

For example? Hwz is dead, reddit is either US-centric or the SG ones has rich kids or IT idiots who will just tell you to dont be sad or just resign or just do coding bro. IG and FB is just bad advice galore who will just tell you to report to MOM.

Correct, the exchange rate makes it quite a good deal for them.
No, there has been a sharp culture shift these past 2 years with Gen Z firmly refusing to OT. You must have left some time ago.

mid 3k in 2024?
I would feel insulted to draw that same amount as a malaysian private uni as a batch mate.

I had so much pressure dealing with the expectations of my multiple managers from different engagements during the interim fieldwork. It seems like to them that I have more than 24 hours a day to deal with work. Every requests from them is always urgent. I tried to push back some non-urgent stuff but they always like to indirectly use my final appraisal as a bargaining chip. There’s no single day where I felt at peace. Ever since I just got promoted a couple of months ago, I started having suicidal thoughts. I don’t feel motivated to get things done.
I really want to quit and find a much chiller job but at the same time I don’t know if the current job market for a S1 is it terrible. Given the response here, it makes me more fear of quitting without a job on hand. I have 2 old retired parents to take care of, so every decision I made I have to be extra prudent and careful.
Can any kind souls advise me what I can do? I’m so scared I might snap soon

I feel you. there are tons of accountant roles in the market lol. its not that hard to find one if u are ok with 4500 +-, its just a slight pay cut from your S1 pay, without the much needed stress.
just so u know the upcoming peak will be very bad because they have not been actively recruiting seniors. they are trying to get rid of as much malaysians as possible if im not wrong due to the new EP requirement
tough luck for any malaysians JHK stalking this forum. go back your kampong. my country don't need u to come steal our rice bowl. sohai lol

Then you are in the wrong place, simple as that.
B4 operates on a (now irrelevant) delayed gratification model where as a fresh graduate you are expected to balance work and study, and won’t become a qualified accountant until 3 years later.
If you want high starting pay, please look elsewhere; this is not the class for you.
That said, at least ISCA has finally recognised Gen Z does not appreciate delayed gratification, so they are apparently working with local universities for students to clear papers before graduating which will fasten their qualification journey.

Some of us are not privileged and are from backgrounds where we are surrounded by people with no ambitions and have the crab in a bucket mentality. Pwned so many times by bad advice IRL.
