You want to slack, go ahead. But it is really loser to egg others on.

Are you even reading the previous thread correctly? They cant meet deadlines when they are already burning the weekends because of unreasonable deadlines set by the manager... and you are talking about slacking and egging others...

Jhk Mgr likes to take ACCA because is cheaper … just like hmmm
Also, it boils down to the fact that ACCA programmes contents are pretty much what u have learnt in local uni. No point spending more money to get a cert that copy and paste your grad certificate right
On contrary multimedia Tekong Ali uni degree are not recognised for exemptions in other professional accountant programme. Thus for their case ACCA is the best way to go
Since only big 4 wants them most of the time a ACCA should be good enuf . If u envision yourself to join US MNC I strongly don’t recommend u taking that

As S2, you can find jobs as analyst or accountant.

Thanks for the insight! I know managers from my firm who jumped out a few years back while I was still A1. Recently I found out that over the past few year, their pay never changed much. It's like after jumping to commercial as an S2 (say the designation in commercial is either AM or M), the salary tends to stagnate already and promotion is slow. So now I'm quite lost in terms of my future directions.

Your mgr maynot be up to the standard of the commercial world for promotion. To be honest with u, a lot of auditors THINK that they made the wrong choice by switching to commercial cos of the slow progression . U need to know that in big 4 u can slack and don’t upgrade yourself all the way , if you lucky enuf they would still promote u to manager just by YOE That title doesn’t mean u can qualify as a finance manager alrdy. Your technicals are still siao only and if u can’t bring more value add to the commercial firms, no promotion for u
And even if u are in big 4, once u hit Mgr u have revenue target to hit. Is not a guaranteed move up to senior manager anymore since a lot of ppl choose to stay after making M. The above mgr level promotion is not that good and no more 2 k increase hike
Just my thoughts. Both moving out and staying in has benefits and risks . For staying in big 4 too long u can kiss goodbye to a happy life and good money if u can’t make it to partner and stuck at senior manage role

Tbh i dont get why you are lost. If you can continue to grind in audit then of course just stay and get the continual promotion. If you prefer WLB then go to commercial. Obviously pay will stagnate at AM/M level in commercial. There is no best of both worlds

Just ignore that guy. He is probably the nasty manager defending himself lol. Using promotion to threaten when the team is already burning the weekends is no go. Shows the firm culture in a nutshell and what kind of managers they are breeding. Please let us know the firm and manager name!
