Why do you care unless you are manager about to be promoted to SM?
In which case, asking your buddies is more reliable than asking online.

As SM , you must play your cards right and suck up to bossses. It is not true that well performing SMs make partner who bring in money . Rather, its is the cunning SMs who are great at buttering people. SMs whose lunch mates are partners tend to make partners -> that much is obvious

It’s weird and uncommon to aim for SM.
You either go big or go home. Aim for Partner or jump out long before making SM.

Go wherever you like to go? i have many ex colleagues who left big 4 before 2 years and most are doing ok and happy with their lives.
Who said must stay for 3 years? Your manager or partner ah? Most managers are just making use of you and are afraid of losing seniors so they want you to stay for 5 years.
There are too many risk adverse sheeps in big 4 who just blindly follow what their peers or managers are saying. This is also the reason why big 4 culture will never change because most are conservative, pessimistic, risk adverse and afraid of changes.

He must be happy living in medrocity I guess. Small minded people are always the hardest to get through to, not that there is much point in doing so.
