you are correct...always very slow and hopefully the increment will be back dated

Hi, I am interested in doing a career switch. I am basically a service engineer in a operation based engineering firm. I am tired of the operation needs of my job though the working environment is good, but I feel cooped with "fighting fire" everyday.
I am keen to be lecturer given its slower pace of life but how do I know teaching is for me?
I spoke to friends who are teaching, it sound not simple...
