Sorry, you make it sounds like poly lecturers are so noble. No, majority of them are there to slack. Dont believe? Go ask any poly students.
You say all poly compete fiercely for lecturers? I heard there is an unofficial agreement between the polys hr on no poaching of each others lecturer, this is to prevent salary from going up due to job hop.
Your comparison of moe teacher is weak you should compare both of the same age group. Of newly minted degree holder joining moe will earn less than 4k. Moe teachers in their mid 30s would have earn more than 5k to 6k at least.
Poly lecturer is end of career type of job, there will be no more mkt value after a few years(except going to pte sch, but the pay sucks). That explains why the turn over is low.

I totally agree....there are many dead log in the poly....they do minimal, fixed tea break at 10am and 3pm, draw high pay (most at ceiling of PAX 4), not heading any committee, hard to get them work and are waiting to retire....the poly wont fire them as they can still teach...I think they are happy with their 8.2k pay as they have no stress in their job, kids have grown up, wife still working....haha
I am also looking forward to this kind of life.....alot better than outside, where most middle aged are squeezed by younger FT, constant KPI to look out for, bad bonus if you idle and not to mention long hours

Most are stuck at the bar of PAX4, about 7.2k crossing that bar is very difficult. Poly will not fire them, but there is a high chance for their contract not to be renewed when there is a change in top management (school director or poly principal) even when there is change at the course manager level. it has happened many times, so it is not really something to look forward to.

What do you mean by 'happened many times' ? Change of senior management that frequent ? Examples?

There will be change of CEO/Principal every few years, ask around what happened when such changes occur. At the school level, director will change too. At the course level, the course manager will change too. every change is like a change in dynasty.

Mm something to check out n verify. This is something I wasn't too convinced by the school albeit the DD said it usually is non issue. Then what are the possible causes of 'termination' other than the suggested apparent changes in management.

When they want you, of course it is non-issue. One easy way of not renewing your contract is to pick on your teaching evaluation performance. just 1 single student comment that is negative is sufficient reason to review your case. another method is to make leave on your own. they will do this by giving you task that is totally not your area. example, you are a non-technical person, with econs background. they will throw a subject say in the area of IT & Ecommerce for you to develop and teach.

Hi undiscern. You seems to be a insider to know so much about this trade. Can you reveal a little more about yourself and how you get to know so much?

Sidetracked. I did detect what I thought some surprising condescension from HR personnel (not the director but her staff) during the recruitment process. Guess when environment is too relaxed and people free, they dabble in this sort of petty (n potentially unkind) politics. Since when HR so powerful.
