Am in top aussie uni. People that made it into IB/GCM usually starts like this.

Big Four (Assurance/Corp Fin) (Year 1 or before Year 1) > FO/First boutique firm > (another) boutique firm > Summer Analyst > Return Offer

S&T usually have lesser internships. Most buy-side don't recruit straight out of college.

Do note that Sydney/Melbourne positions are way more competitive due to the sheer amount of applicants and limited places. If on 7.0 GPA scale, applicants generally have 6.something~ GPA and if on WAM, only a good Distinction and above would make you competitive. Especially if your an Asian male. LOL

You mean the T part of S&T? From what I heard, base got bumped and in line with IBD in US. Not sure in SG. Variable depends on the revenue you can generate.

The hours are definitely shorter but calling it boring is overkill. Career path is definitely not as smooth as staying in IBD due to lesser seats these days. You could always take a MBA if you want a more traditional exit option but being in S&T generally means you are more of a risk-taker. Generally, heard that the more senior in the industry would try to negotiate with buy-side for a cut of the P/L they generate rather than a good base and variable like IBD.

Would not recommend S&T if you want job stability, having "fun" in the sense of staying in the office till 2-3am and want a "steady" exit option

Sorry to break your bubble NUS guy (assuming your even from NUS). unimel/usyd actually ranks higher than NUS in most of the prominent academic ranking (3/5). I bet you only see QS ranking and circlejerk yourself all day for being in the top uni in APAC

Trade finance and S&T are two different things. If you are not in the industry, why dish out so much unfound advice.
