Continued pay increment will strike a chord of discordance

Civil service is for the people. Servants of people, when people are suffering how can we continue accord bonus to ourselves.

Hopefully just no bonus but no paycut

Don't understand why people are so concern about MVC if it is going to be implemented in June. As economy is bad and everywhere is exercising cost cutting regardless CS, PS or private. Either more work or less work to do, it is inevitable that we are heading into recession.
MVC is just temporary and when economy back on track, you will get your normal pay.
And probably there is no bonus and pay freeze next year but it is across all industry (maybe minority excluded).

It could mean pay cut of 10% and even more if you are in management. This is substantial. With lower pay, employer cpf contribution is also affected.

If you are in the management, I would expect you to get more than $6k per month even with 10% reduction. I don't think there is any change to the CPF contributions.

Not only CS and PS has MVC, many private companies also include MVC into the employment contract. Seriously have to think from country economy point of view, if MVC activation will help the country tide over this critical period.

Do you think the minister cut their pay for fun? Or private companies exercise pay cut or get staff to take unpaid leave for leisure?

Or rather to see companies close down and more people get 0% salary, then government has to spend more to support employment?

Public sector is the biggest single employer. But private sector is still the majority taking into consideration MNCs, SMEs and etc.
