Do you know if there is decent work life balance as a project engineer? i hear some people at hq work from 9-6 whereas project engineers work from 8.30-6, that is an additional 10 hrs a month. Both are engineer roles and have similar payout. I understand both have different scope, just wondering if there are any additional benefits of being a project engineer on top of interest in scope.

Thank you for you insight!

let me give you some advice. As a project engineer, there is definitely less WLB. 1) Project is more dynamic in nature if contractor is working and need your support you got to be there 2) There’ll be inevitable night works

Also, because in projects everyone tend to work later, it will be easier to get marked. (Ie no bonus, promotions) or no contract renewal if it comes to higher management to decide who to keep. Benefits wise, project teams have better bonus and salary generally if you toe the lines

Thanks for the advice everyone! Have to be mentally prepared for it. I know some people working as a project engineer, they mentioned that even though they OT, during their working hours, they have quite an amount of free time(?) Understand that this depends from project to project but would like to hear personal experiences from people here who have worked as a project engineer here!
