My work is -> plain vanilla (not challenging at all)

Any advice?
I would love to be in your position, plain vanilla (not challenging at all), mean no stress or minimal stress, everyday happily go to work and go home on the dot....why not. Alot of work life balance. This is the kind of job that I would like to be. Every month/years just wait to collect money and sometimes bonus. If I were you, I will stay in the job till retirement even if hit the cap of MX10 at about $10900, it would be good if can hit MX9. If you feel that your job is chicken feed for you, maybe should should spend more time on the internet buying dividend stock and earn passive income or contra if you want during working hours. You should have quite alot of cash for investing right base on your 7k salary.

after reading the article on "Polytechnic graduates are prepared primarily for work, not universities", i feel sad for our poly grad. i have came across so many poly grad who couldn't get into our local uni. many ended up getting an overseas degree which might not be recognize by companies in Singapore.

yes, I do have a friend male, get DEE grade for A level...cannot enter local university.

Just lucky that he was born in a rich family, his father company(listed in SGX), so he can afford to go australia monash university to study a degree, and he is almost completing his PHD in the same university..

If I were him, got bad result for A level, I would have ended up in local poly after wasting 2 years in JC, because my family and I could not afford for overseas education. Fortunately, I manage to get fairly good result to enter NTU.

Well I can say that if you are rich , almost every door is open for you. If you are poor, please plan your route properly, if you want to get to local university, make sure you get to JC and study hard for A level and get a place in local university. If you are poor and want to study in POLY, make sure you better got top 1% of your cohort and got a place in local university, if not you will be stuck with just a diploma.

summary:
Rich family>>>can choose to study JC/poly whatever you like, u can afford to go overseas university.

Poor family>>>better choose JC and study hard for A level if you want to study local U. Choose poly at your own risk and stuck with just a diploma, unless you got scholarship/or work part time for few years saving up $$ for private university or overseas U.

For sure, The questions won't be technical. Who in the right mind would expect a general degree holder to answer taxation questions.

The questions likely to test your writing skills and aptitude.

However on lighter side. Another of my frend took up the bond offered by airforce and bonded by 10yrs. So during his poly life, he studied n get paid and the "allowance" is even better than a dip grad.

So i guess is up to each individual luck in getting a gd pay job....
