tink the prob is nt rly nt being recognised. i feel that they do recognise the deg. juz that wif the high vol of applicants, they will surely show a preference towards those frm the 3 local unis. if 10 gals all wanna be ur gf, do u prefer the 10/10 in looks or the 7/10 gal?

When you start to compare salaries, most likely you will feel upset after reading this forum. How much of the info is real, you do not know.
Point is - STOP COMPARING!
The secret to happiness is contentment.

Then you need to have contented parents and contented friends, and your kids will need to have contented friends too.

OK, I am contented to earn $1.5k/mth as a local honours degree holder. Will remain single/no house/no GF/just barely enough to support both parent and myself/and yes forever stuck in this kind of pay.......And yes to be contented in this way.
You may want to ask any local degree grad what if they were me and stay contented?
99.9999% will give you this

What are you talking about?
Your 1st paragraph revolves around a friend (not frend) studying in Nanyang Poly and that she didnt get into NTU ACCT.
And out of the blue, the 2nd paragraph mentioned SIM and how it is not recognised.
Shouldn't you have a 3rd paragraph that goes "No wonder I did not get into NTU" ?

Ah... Was just trying to say, getting local Uni is hard even you scored well in poly.
So when Those who cant get into local uni try PTE uni (eg. SIM), their cert is not recognised by public sector.
Anyway we are livin in SGP, the living standard is high, no matter how much the pay is... It might nv be enough with the inflation.

Should u accept mso position or wait for mx position?
I have 14 years of experience both in private and government sector. I started my career with private sector and move to stat board and was there for 4 years and left cos I took a part time rmit degree while I was working there and there was no career advancement after my degree. Thereafter, I move to private sector for a year*and move back to government sector for 2 years and left as my contract ended. I was division 1 mx scheme last drawn pay was $3,000. I am back to private sector now earning $4.8k and want to go back to civil service for good. I got an offer from a ministry but it's for mso position grade 4, division 1 at $3.6 k. I am dissapointed that I'm not offered mx position but they told me that there are not hiring mx position at the moment.
I want to know what does division really means as I am in division 1 of Mso scheme is it good? Should I accept this offer or wait for mx position offer. What are my chances? Thanks in advance.

division 1 - MX scheme - degree Grad
Div 2 - diploma
It's not easy to move to div 1 from 2 so i suggest you stick to the private sector.
