firstly, you couldnt even qualify for admissions into a local uni. secondly, even in a dumping ground, you get a third class degree. what do you think the public service is, a charitable organisation?

Why do you all have to be so nasty? Can answer his/her qn without personal attacks right...
Yes 3.8k is too high an expectation. I am from SMU with a Cum Laude. Back in 2010, before PSD issued blanket policy to recognise the latin honors system, some agencies take Cum Laude as 3rd Class Honors. I was offered $2.7k at CAAS. Of course I didn't take it. I went to another agency that recognised my cum laude as 2nd upper.
Adjusting for inflation a 3CH can probably expect a low 3k, if you get the job. I am hiring a temp now. I put up requirements for O levels/NITEC and I received resumes of diplomas and even private uni degrees willing to work for O level pay. Job market quite bad.

Private uni, 3rd class, maybe 2.8 is more reasonable. they will offer you 3 if they generous.
sorry to burst your hope, the civil service is sort of a 'brandist' on university degrees, so your uni brand and degree class are important.
you can put 3.8 but maybe will not end up with any interviews...
need to have realistic expectation...

Public service only cares about certificates. Only suited for book smart elites.

my honest opinion... assuming you are not from higher tier private uni (eg. uni of melburne).. my friend is getting 3.5 (without ns) for a 2nd upper from nus.. i think you can ask for 3 (if with ns).. or join SB that had merged aws into base, you will be offer 3.2 to 3.3.
btw, i was from a glc healthcare company before i join SB. one yr ago, we offered a fresh grad 2nd class lower from nus 4+ as application developer.. you may want to consider glc..

hmm.. true for fresh grad.. but not really for people with experience..
i was from a private uni, join SB as a mid management level.. most of my colleagues at the same job grade from local uni (couple of them with masters or fch) are at least 4 to 5 yr older than me.. of cose there are also highflyer (not neccessart scholar, usually are very good performer) who are even faster than me..
