No you are wrong. There is no such thing as "effective" salary. In your case you earn either $3,000 per month or $48,000 per annum.

You would not know the PI till on the 2 days before payday. It's a fixed sum.

Did the rate of merit increment increased?
MX12 here. Got 244 mi last yr but it increased to 378 this yr.
B grade on both occasion.
