Compare civil service salary

Thanks for all the comments and advices.

I'm in IT industry with NUS pass degree.

Long hours about 10-12hrs most days. Main thing is my direct boss keeps breathing down my neck to chase sales. And it's affecting my life. Messages will come after 10pm to instruct me to do this and that etc. that's why I'm thinking of switching to CS/PS for better work life balance.

I have been applying for the positions from various stat board and ministries but revive no reply at all. Even rejection emails also not received.

That's pretty disheartening.

So I was thinking, is it the pass degree or the salary. Since I fulfilled all the requirements required for the positions that I applied for. I even specifically applied for those that did not state GOOD DEGREE.

Have you tried IDA? They take in many IT people from private sector as project managers.

I would think both your results and salary contribute to it.

Aiya. The requirements on the job ads are too generic. Anyone can meet. But very often hiring managers are looking for specific content i.e., whether you've the relevant policy experience or not.

Think you can try IDA, DSTA. You may have to take a huge pay cut. More than 2000 bucks. Don't mention your pay in your main application form. Negotiate w them on salary at your interview.

Alternatively go to another private sector firm lor. Not all private sector firms are family unfriendly.

8.5K is AD level at stat board, SAD, Junior DD level at Ministry. Dun bother with senior executive. You need good references to get you into such positions or very niched skill set. For policies positions, you may want to get reference letters from Admin Service bosses. For functional positions, you need to demonstrate that you have at least X+5 years of experience doing whatever you are doing, when X is the no. of years stated in the job ad. Hope this helps.

8.5k is DD at HDB. You should expect a pay cut of 20% as a mid-career entrant

IDA can be siong these days with data science and procurement issues. May not have better work-life balance

currently only getting 4k basic with 2nd lower(mech degree NTU) with NS (5-6years exp) with local GLC(aviation) as snr.engineer.

If apply for DSTA air systems as engineer, how much basic salary to expect? and what is the annual salary too?

How bad is your worklife balance now? I believe it is better for you to stay in the private sector since you are doing quite well. You will be able to reach higher level if you keep it up at private sector but you will be limited at cs/ps due to cep which based on academic achievement.

PM Lee already said degree is not needed to succeed. CS/PS is going to lead the way. Even dip holders can move up the ladder if he/she can prove his worth.

let's be honest.. there are not many dip holders (excluding those late bloomers who did well enough to go on to local unis) are competent enough to do research or write papers?
