afaik, pay slash is inevitable. If you are looking for more family time then will a pay slash matter?

First 3 years were a nightmare. Yea, there are some oddities if you look closely, but hey... work hard, and you'll get your just rewards in the govt sector.
What class of honors do you have? Do you serve NS?

Could you state work year(s) do you have a promotion or salary adjustment?

I notice that from 06-07, you got a whopping +1090 increment?!?! or +34.49%
and in 09-10 you got 10% increment, from 11-12 got 17% and 12-13 got 10%....

Could you state work year(s) do you have a promotion or salary adjustment?

2003 - 2011 is believable, esp slow salary growth for most civil servants before 2008. 2012 and 2013 would be too incredible if it's (or rather to be) true.

p/s. Message like "you'll be rewarded if you work hard etc" seems to be repeating now and then. From the same source with different stories?

You're spot on. Timing is also out. $1K jump between 06-07 is indeed very suspicious. If the guy stated 07-08, it would be more believable, as some did have (or close to) that kind of adjustment.

another out timing is 2009-2010. There was 10%+ downward adjustment for superscale and ~4% for other officers. I had a B that year and get only $200 MI. In normal year, it would be about $400. Overall, I still had 3-4% downward in annual salary, as compared to previous year.

CEP and progression may be enhanced. But not due to the postgrad and senior commander course. That's the point. I'm the classic example - I was nominated but choose not to attend due to family commitment. Still manage to over-take my ex-superior who attended.

Hi...

My qualifications are: BBA, Pass with merit. Served NS.

2006-2007 I had 2 x salary adjustment + promotion
2010 - Promotion
2012 - Promotion + salary adjustment
2013 - salary adjustment

Yea... like I said, some oddities that ppl will probably find suspicious. Each of us will get our breaks at some point in time. It's a matter of timing.

After a while in 2006 when the economy was booming (before the crash in 07-08), govt recruitment was bad, naturally it had to do some adjustment, especially for junior officers.

I'm there are civil servants in this forum who would recall these events. Do share your experiences too!

Look at this link
https://forums.salary.sg/income-jobs/...-entrants.html

This was the major adjustment I had. Can you imagine, at that point in time, after being 3 years' in service, I was earning $300 less than fresh grads with degree?!

If they did not adjust my pay then, I would have left!

Firstly, there are the Big Four firms in Singapore are not called "magic circle" firms. That sounds ridiculous in the local context and is a term applied only to specific City firms in the UK.

Secondly, your claim that JLCs typically end up making junior partner at most in the private sector is complete and utter rubbish. Whether you're JLC or not, and whether or not you're first class, has no bearing on whether you make equity or senior partner. It's about your performance and how much rain you can bring in for the firm.

Thirdly, JLCs are certainly not handicapped in any way when they enter the private sector. On the contrary, JLCs are in huge demand because they know the ins and outs of the courtroom and the justices' chambers. They help draft judgments for High Court. Private firms can't wait to poach them when they finish their JLC terms, often with higher salary than for their peers. Many of them do stay in the judiciary by choice with the aim of becoming judges, not because they can't get other jobs (LOL)
Your reply is so condescending.
