Anyone know how much are they getting? They have reached their PEAK in civil service, ceiling of their scale, but not AO type.
Very curious to workout the worst case scenario if I would work till this age in civil service. What is the pay like? Can advise? Just very ordinary performance graduates.
Thanks.

most PSC scholars would be posted into ministries... and the elite of them plus some exceptional external ppl would be inducted into AO scheme... yes a lot ministry directors are AOs mostly 30+.... the situation is less serious in stat boards... there are more older directors in stat boards....but note that AOs can also be transferred to stat boards as directors although stat boards are in public service not civil service.

so not all directors are on AO scheme but the elite of ones?
was wondering if these directors are humble/approachable people or are they mostly snobby. of cos there will always be some of each around, but on average?

something like Scale X - $5650 x250 - $8850 (just an example only)
If uncle's salary is $8850, he will stagnant there, until he gets a promotion to next scale. My friend claimed he is like dat..... still get bonus lah.... but nothing to look forward liow. True or not?
Must kopi with uncles and aunties, then you know your future......... hehehheeh

Wow, that means no guarantee promotion even you work very hard. Someone just posted to take up the vacancy, that's is it............... Ordinary folks just work for bread+butter.

I believe there is no increment once you have hit your grade ceiling, unless you received a promotion which brings your salary range higher. My colleague got a $9 increment this year because he hit the salary ceiling for his grade. By right, he should get a promotion so he doesn't end up with such pathetic increment. But his superiors didn't support him enough I think. He left almost immediately.
I hear, in civil service, your grade, salary, and chances of promotion depend on your education level, experience, performance AND AGE. I think this is crap. There is another colleague whom the mgt was pushing very hard for a senior manager post for her but was not given the promotion because she was 3 years "short" of the age range for the grade level.

For those stagnant staff, I mean those hit ceiling but no propsect for promotion. Esp those in their 50s. Will they be given 'hints' for earlier retirement?
I heard some org encourage 50s to have golden handshakes, or they give 'newspaper treatment'. ie let you do nothing until you feel guilty then resign.....
True or not? I am average person, I hate to land up in this situation. very scared.
