Sounds about right. I know someone on economist scheme with that progression, but slightly higher because he's a scholar.

Fresh grads in the Economist Service will start as Asst Director (or some fancy MX9 title).
However non-Economist track freshers like IO/TO will often start at MX13 equivalent.

Please don't propagate fake news. All fresh graduates join MTI as Assistant Directors at MX13. They earn the same as MX13s elsewhere ie 3.5-3.8k. Info is first-hand.

MTI has no fixed timelines or ROA. I’ve heard of people getting promoted to SAD within about 2-3 years, while others take 4-5 years or longer. You can be held at SAD for a very long time too.
Also, just to point out, just because titles are similar doesn’t mean the pay grades are the same.
A MTI AD starts at about 3.5-3.8k (fresh grad). In contrast, a MFA AD would be about 6 years in service and would have come back from at least one post - drawing about 10k or so.
MTI SADs draw about high 4 to mid-5.

But yes, outside of GIC/ MAS, you will earn the most in MFA as a civil servant.

Is DD and Director at MTI equivalent to DD/D at other ministry?
