Want to return home.

Am I able to work in polyclinic or join chain GP clinics? - will I get full registration after 2 years or will it take much longer?
While ur mbbs is unrecognised, ur mrcs will qualify for conditional registration.

Both pte and public do offer positions for conditional reg. Public more often

U might want to email polyclinic hr, gp chain HR such as Raffles, shenton parkway for more info.

What is FY1 and FY2?

MRCS doesnt matter for GPs.
U noob lah. Fy1 and fy2 also dunno.
Foundation year. Have you been living under a stone?

It is important for u to read widely.

Bro if first degree is unrecognised, means can only temporary reg, which is very bad. Just slightly better than observership

However once u have a slightly advance qualification to qualify for conditional reg (Mrcs/mrcp)

Then can go for conditional route.
Even if recognised foreign mbbs Such as oxbridge still conditional route first

I am too lau jiao for you lah.

My time never heard of simi Foundational Year. It was HO, 1st year MO 2nd year MO etc.

US system also doesn't have Foundational year what ****. It is 1st year resident, 2nd year, 3rd year.

Ask a question respectfully knowing things have changed you so rude. You are the new generation.

How long does the conditional route typically last?

The website mentioned a minimum of 2 years but reading previous posts it sounds like it can be indefinite?

As someone who is considering the return to SG after years of overseas education (undergrad, medical school and residency), I am finding that it is actually quite hard to obtain straight information from this thread...

Google "SMC IMG" You can check some info there.

I think it is better if you email SMC directly

SMC @ spb . gov . sg

Conditional route based on singapore citizen + undergraduate recognised degree is usually 3-4 years from the returning singaporeans i observe. (Without the need for attainment of specialist/family physician ceritfication)

Conditional route based on singapore citizen + advanced mrcp/mrcs but Unrecognised Undergrad degree is more uncommon.

On smc website, it does states that you need to exit either as Family Physician/Specialist.

So you would have to either fm residency or take gdfm->2/3 years of gp practice -> family physician

Upon acqusition of family physician register, then u can apply for full registration

Modernising medical career for uk started in 2005, you must be at least 40plus now.
Because a good number of seniors are trained in the uk, so i thought they would be familar with terms like HO and SHO, which became FY1 And FY2.
Im sorry. Thought people that frequent this site are the youngsters.

Apologies to 前辈

Default Full reg

The criteria stated in SMC website based on years of conditional reg to obtain full registration is the minimum. You will need an endorsement letter from CMB, usually with a letter of support from the head of your department. Needless to say this will be contingent on satisfactory performance but usually is not difficult. So there is some subjective element to it. But day to day practice and work as a consultant whether under conditional or full reg is the same
