There are so few Singaporeans a year in Oxbridge.
The very same people in this pool (be it undergrad or postgrad law) are very successful IRL.
It is this track record that allows one to conclude that Oxbridge graduates have very good prospects and outlook in life.

I have friends in Oxbridge and the intake for law is even smaller at postgrad level.
Maybe 4-5 Singaporeans max per LLM/BCL batch.

For undergrad law, it’s 10 Singaporeans max per BA Law batch.

but with bonus - it should be the same as big 4?

so AGC doesn't match private practice salary?

I’m not the smartest but I am loyal to my Oxbridge boss.
I think that makes a difference in my career thus far.
Investing in the right people.

It will match (you'll still earn a little bit less but negligibly so for the lesser work that you do) from the start, but not after 3PQE, especially if you're comparing against big4. For example, AGC earns a little over 4k (as a male with 2 years NS) at the start, so with higher EOY bonus, you earn approximately the same (give or take 1/2 to 1 month). However, the salary increments are not as big as b4, so you end up losing out quite fast.

If you're comparing against the newer salary range announced by A&G, you're going to lose out badly.

Agreed. Imo the most valuable part of AGC work isn’t the pay but the connection you would make and the title. Being part of the prosecuting end will invariably come with certain skill sets that are sought after in the liti industry. Esp so if you intend to pursue investigations type work.

Offered JLC. Would pay match big4 over the years if I stay on post-JLC? Do JLCs get paid more than the non-JLCs?

What exactly do you mean by a "non-JLC"? JLC is a separate scheme in and of itself and usually lasts for 2-3 years. Once you are done you will be expected to find another role.

B4 liti teams will usually match your PQE once you are done.

How much can the average small-firm or chinatown lawyer doing general liti and some basic corp work make every month?

I'm observing a trend where a fair number of my friends who are in mid size or large firms leave to set up their own small shops. Is it really that worthwhile to forego the potential progression in a larger firm to set up your own firm?
