What is there to complain?
Well, the question is whether they deserve the higher salary? 2 years of NS doesn’t add anything to their legal ability. Which is why I decided not to apply for legal service because it’s unfair.

Also I guess you can not compare girls to guys of the same age. After 3-4 years in Uni, we already see guys who are 2 years older as “same batch” so comparison should be between these.

Note: some of the firms below adjust their salary in January following mass call in August by $500-$1k. International firms usually increase during the end of their financial year on June 30.
I also do not think some of the big four figures are correct. Most ranges from 5.3k to 5.8k. For small firm, they will usually pay 4.5k at the minimum because under employment act, if you pay someone below 4.5k, you have to compensate them for OT work. If you pay above 4.5k, your associate can do as much OT work as you require him/her to do without having to pay additional OT allowance. That is why most law firms in Singapore will pay a minimum of 4.5k unless they do not do OT at all.

Drew: 5.6k
Rodyk: 5.5k
TSMP: 5k

RHT: 4.5k

Legal service (incld JLC): 4.8/4.4k (with NS, 1st/2.1); 4k/3.8k (wo NS, 1st/2.1) - seems low but this is payable from part b/RLT onwards and there is a further increment after 1 year or so

What? Most ranges from 5.3k to 5.8k. for big 4?

The hours are going to be mad yet only pay so little? Per hour rate this is pathetic. I am so glad I made the move to medicine.

You are mistaken. The big 4 figures in the post you were replying to are exactly right as far as I know. 5.3k is wrong. Source: 2016 call.

Exactly.

2016 NQ and 2017 NQ were offered two very different packages.
